2014 Project Life {week one}
It's been almost three years since I documented a year in our lives with the Project Life system. I haven't done it mostly because I couldn't keep up and the pressure for a picture a day was a little overwhelming. It turned into a chore which wasn't what I was going for and really took the creative fun out of it.
Now that I'm doing it digitally I'm hoping that will alleviate all the above and in turn give me back the pleasure this hobby brings. The goal is to spark the scrapbooking fire within me and keep my sanity by not allowing it to take over. So there won't be pictures each day, I will take this one week at a time and if I miss a week, so be it.
Here I go...

while daddy's away, the girls....
...eat mexican!
Art was with a vendor at the Blues game on Thursday night. He says he was "working." Yeah, right! :) It's a rough job but somebody has to do it.
Actually it was nice in the sense it was just me and the girls with no homework, no commitments, just time to enjoy each other. So we chose to eat out at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. No cooking, no dishes to wash - my kind of night.
It was a nice break from the regular school night.
Lots of giggles, lots of salsa and chips.
Lots of fun.
Art totally missed out! :)

love/hate relationship with my bangs
This WAS me the other night. Long bangs. I have a love/hate relationship with them. I get to the point, 6 to 7 weeks after my last cut that I think...
"I could let them grow out."
I can handle it, right?!?"
BUUUUT eventually the darn things start bugging me and I spend more time pushing them to the side, getting them out of my eyes and then I think...
"Am I crazy, of course I need them cut, I hate my white forehead, it's like a beacon in the night!"
So, I end up on the phone making a hair appointment. I wonder if I'll ever be able to grow them out? It's been 43 years with bangs. Am I brave enough to throw caution to the wind and boldly go where I've never been before?
Well... they're cut.
There's always next time. :)

tuesday night multi-tasking
This was my Tuesday night. Sitting at Sarah's piano lessons while cutting string to make fruit loop necklaces the next day. Never a dull moment in my preschool world :).

homework soccer star
I really never thought it would come to this but with the addition of soccer to Sarah's schedule it is what it is... homework being done in the car. I planned ahead though and sharpened 4 new pencils and placed them plus a pink eraser in my cars console. Here she is, my soccer player, working hard :).
Tonight started our first soccer practice with many more to come and the idea of getting the homework done after we got home seemed exhausting on top of trying to practice piano, get dinner on the table and just to have time for each other, all done in a reasonable amount of time putting us to bed at a decent hour. Woo-eee that's CA-RAZY!
Why again did we add soccer to our plate?
Ahh yes I remember... because Sarah loves it and she's good at it.
She beams.
I beam when she beams.
Is it worth it? Yes.
We beam together :).

new year, new chore chart
For awhile now I've wanted to change the way we do chores around here. I wanted to keep the girls motivated to actually do their chores without my nagging. I found this on the pinterest for motivation.
The idea to hang their "reward" is genius. I've put ours on the back side of my pantry door, hanging it off our cork board. They are in and out of that pantry throughout the day so I knew it would catch their eye. Below the reward is a chore chart I created in MS Word templates that I customized for each girl. They do the daily chore then mark it off. I gave each chore a value, if the chore isn't done, the amount is subtracted. Sunday is pay day. So far it's working with little nagging.

through grace's lens
Grace got a hold of my camera. I only found out when I was downloading some pictures off of it. The girl walked us through some of her snow day. Thought I would share and document.
