sarah yesterday... sarah today

Sarah brought this masterpiece home yesterday from preschool.
Don't you love the rainbow boots, dress and hair.
It looks just like her :D!
This is me and the little orange being next to me is Truman.
Do I look fat or prego in this outfit?
I was told by her teacher that she said she wanted a baby brother.
If only it were that easy sweetie!
She is happy in this picture which on most days is how my girl looks.
That was yesterday.
Today, different story - not so happy.
She has a viral bug going around where you get a sore throat and fever.
It's not strep (thank goodness).
We just have to wait out the fever.
She is up and down with ibuprofen helping with the fever so I see glimpses of my Sarah from time to time.
Today is a day of taking it easy on the couch, watching Martha Speaks, Max and Ruby and Curious George AND lots of cuddles time.
I'm praying for a fast recovery, I hate it when my girls are sick.
I get blue seeing them blue.

e-mealz review/update

So far, so good.  This weekend we had two of their meals...

Creamy Crock Pot Chicken  - The girls gave it 7 stars, Art only 5, I gave it a 7 as well.  Art said it was somewhat bland for his taste which is true since he loves a little kick in everything he eats.  For the rest of us it was fine, we enjoyed it.  He told me he would do it again, I just needed to give it a punch :).

Broccoli and Sausage Pasta - Girls gave it 7 stars (is there a trend here, hmmmm....), Art and I both gave it a 9.  Simple and good.

One thing I have noticed with this in stretching my buck even further is that the portions are for 4 to 6 but with these two I have leftovers to feed us yet again another meal.  So I've frozen them both and put them on the rotation for a "I need a quick meal NOW!" night.

I printed the newest menu from last Tuesday, 8/31 and found some more recipes I will try.  Every Tuesday they put out a new meal plan so I will get more options tomorrow.  The problem now is which ones to pick.

don't judge me by the lint behind my washer/dryer

Today we had a little spillage, okay a lot of spillage!  Doing load after load from our weekend I guess I got into the motions of it all and really didn't pay much attention when I threw in Truman's pillow into the washer.  I put it in where the water was running off of it, out the bottom of the washer into our laundry room floor and thus into the basement.  I heard a stream and ran to the basement to find a water fall.  Ran back upstairs, stopped the washer, UGGGHHHH!!!!

So in all of that we've had the fans going downstairs and in the laundry room to help dry things out.  This is what Art found when he moved everything out.  YUCK!  I am a bit embarrassed so why am I showing it?  I guess as a lesson learned and a reminder to all you out there, when spring cleaning, don't forget your laundry room.

I'm off to vacuum now.

lake hanna

We went on our annual trip to Lake Hanna this weekend.  The girls love this and affectionately call it Jada's lake (their cousin).  Last year we were in the sizzling heat, this year the total opposite.  Cooler temps called for jeans and sweatshirts at night.  Personally this is my type of camping when the campfire is inviting and no bugs.
Cooler temps didn't stop us from getting our feet in the sand.
Truman loved being with us.
We celebrated this girls 7th birthday with Art's family while there.  Silly string with her cousin and sister was in order.
Wouldn't be a trip to Jada's lake if we didn't end up filthy dirty from head to toe.
They made mud sculptures :-).  I enjoyed watching that.  I remember doing it myself at this age.
Birthday girl getting ready to blow out her candles.
We are home now, sunburned, full of great BBQ by my sister-in-law, new toys to play with, loads and loads of laundry but mostly fond memories yet again of our time with the Sanderson clan at Lake Hanna.
