first reactions
Woke up to 8 inches (so far).
It's still coming down with more tonight and the weekend.
Snow day #4 for Sarah and I, #3 for Grace.
First reactions upon waking up:
Art - We haven't seen a snow storm like this in a long time.
Grace - That's alot of snow!
Sarah - It's as tall as me!
Me - WOW!
We are all home today.
I'm glad I don't have to worry about Art on the road, especially since we can't even see ours :).
Have a safe warm day everyone!

finally god...thank you!
Tonight at dinner Grace said our prayer.
She thanked God for finally sending us snow we could make a snowman out of.
In fact, she thanked him twice.

dump
We went to celebrate my Mom's birthday on Sunday. I made this -
Blueberry Dump Cake
1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
4 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup melted butter
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix berries, sugar and cinnamon in the bottom of a 9x13 pan. Cover berries with dry cake mix. Pour butter over cake mix, do not stir. Bake for 30 minutes or until light brown.

Now it's not figure friendly but in a quick pinch it is an easy go to dessert and I have to say my favorite of all the "dump cakes" I've ever tried. I loved the cinnamon with the blueberries. I will definitely pull this recipe out next summer when we go blueberry picking!

snow day...play
Okay, I promise this is the last post of the day :).
The girls are playing Barbies and I have the moment to sit and warm up.
We ventured outside.
It took us 30 minutes to get the gear on and 10 minutes to be out and done.
It is bitterly cold, especially with the wind and it will only get colder tonight, a low of 9 degrees.
Makes me shiver just thinking about it.
I love taking pictures with the natural light reflecting off the snow.
I feel I can't get a bad shot.
Beautiful pink sunset.
I'm ready to get back to work tomorrow.
While the girls loved today, the snow... they are ready to get back too.
Fingers crossed :).
snow day...slow day (#2)
Today was our second snow day this winter. You would have thought it was Christmas morning by the reaction I got this morning when the girls woke up to lots of snow.
We have...
Played Hungry Hippos
Sequence
The Pooh Game
Valentine Match Up
Wii (baseball, swordplay, tennis and bowling)
We've put together puzzles.
Play-doh
Colored
Crafts
School worksheets
Played with Truman
Listened and danced to Phineas and Ferb cd.
Watched Clifford and Martha
Ate Pancakes for breakfast, beans and rice for lunch, pretzels and peanut butter for snack time
All of this in our Pajamas!
We're planning to go out and have some fun in the snow here soon, NOT in our pajamas.
That should be the cherry on top.
I also made some small changes to my blog, got a little creative (new header), enjoyed doing it while the girls worked with play-doh. I'm getting to know the newest version of Photoshop.
After looking at the list it doesn't look so slow. Definitely a blessing.
national clean your desk day
What a great thing to do on a snow day.
I was looking back at my 2009 365 Picture of the Day project and found this.
Today...
I think my desk looks better today than it was two years ago. A little less cluttered. I still rely heavily on technology, now it is my iphone. It contains my families schedule, meal planner, grocery lists, basically EVERYTHING!
camera shy
Everytime I pull out the camera this dog runs.
Must be camera shy.
Usually a good petting gets my close up shot.
Silly dog.

memory verse
Grace's memory verse this coming week. I love that she took the initiative to write it out on her own.

wintry walk
Christmas day I went for a walk in our backyard. I went the farthest I had ever gone before. Going back there in the Spring, Summer or Fall gives me the willies. We have copperheads here in Missouri and we've seen them on our property! I headed out knowing they were in their underground nests and wouldn't be surprising me.
I enjoyed my walk. Saw a few things I didn't know we had on the land.
The view of the house from where I stopped.
Love this tree. Not like the rest in the woods, but in alot of ways like me.

happy
Through 2011 I am going to take pictures of things that make me happy and document them here. I figure since I can't seem to take the time to scrapbook them, I will create a digital book of the year right here on my blog. Since the first week of the new year started off on a Saturday, I only have one picture to share. Enjoy!
