Fridays are my days off. My time to catch up on the weeks events. My time to run errands like grocery shopping. Last Friday I went to Trader Joes. I'm guesstimating it had been a couple of months since I had gone. I usually stock up on the necessities so I don't have to go often. On my trip I found these:
Darn you Jonica! I'm addicted. Art's addicted. Sarah's addicted (it is gluten free). These are my newest indulgence. And Arts. And Sarahs. And J's.
To offset the indulgence I bought these. Asparagus makes me think Spring. Art and especially loves these on the grill during the summer months with a little EVOO, salt, pepper and garlic. Mmmmm...
My girls are not crazy for asparagus and I wanted to make my Sausage Pasta with it. So I made a side of green peas for them instead while I added these to my recipe. Sausage Pasta is simple and everyone here loves it. I've made it for quite awhile now and tweaked it to my families tastes. I did make some changes to it since my first post:
Instead of whole garlic I use garlic powder - I didn't like biting into the chunks of garlic and I felt it distributed better through out the pasta this way.
Our pasta is now gluten free.
Sometimes I add a little sweet potato puree to boost it even more. I just make sure I offset the little sweetness with more garlic powder and salt.
Art and I loved the asparagus in it this time. I will have to do that again. Our usual is broccoli. I am going to try it with cut up fresh spinach, added at the end for less wilting. We love variety!
