snack in her seat

Everyday, like clock work at 3:50 p.m. I pick up GM.
And everyday she says the same thing, "Hungry!"
She says it just like that too.
One word.
Kindergartners work up a big appetite by the time the day is over.
That's why I always try to have a snack in her seat, waiting.
Sometimes, to make things special we even stop at the corner gas station for our snack.
She loves this, they both do.
Today the snack was a granola bar, she was excited.

she remembered & unexpected tooth

SK and I are preparing for her Pinkalicious party this week and were out and about shopping for it. I had on my list pink balloons. We went to two different stores, no pink. So I texted AP to see if he could stop by a party store, he said he would pick some up. Walked into Wally - FOUND THEM (Yay for me!). Put them in the cart when I was told by my three year old going on four that we already had balloons. She was sure we had them already. So I went with it, knowing I would probably be back at Wally for something party related. We got home, I dug in the party bag and guess what I found?!?! Pink Balloons. She remembered, I the adult, didn't. I was a little aggravated at myself for forgetting but also amused. I just should have asked her in the first place!

GM came to the table last night for dinner announcing she had a new tooth. Her Dad and I kind of shrugged it off but she kept insisting there was a new one in her mouth. AP looked and lo and behold there it was. A new tooth coming in BUT it wasn't pushing the baby tooth out. It was behind the baby tooth. Both parents were dumbfounded. We didn't even know this could happen. We just stared at each other not sure what to say. AP's first thought (after amazement) was how much is this gonna cost us? Mine (again after amazement) , how is GM going to handle a tooth being pulled? My girl has issues with the dentist, she gets anxious, there are tears etc... Not a fun time. It made AP and I sick all night, thinking what would take place after seeing the dentist. I called a good friend who's in the "biz" she was positive and told us it was totally normal. She gave us an idea of what will take place after x-rays and a visit to our dentist. So next Monday's the day. Haven't told GM yet. There's that sick feeling again in the pit of my tummy.

{thanks Ange, you're the dental BOMBIGGITY!}

There was another veggie....

They made for a lovely side dish for dinner tonight.

I hate it when I do that.

cake mix cookies

Made these treats last night with my girls after school.
We haven't done this in a long time.
I went for my recipe for cake mix cookies, so simple.
These are the ONLY cake mix cookies that AP will eat {he's not a big fan of others I've tried}.
He loves these because they have oatmeal in them {the boy loves oatmeal}.

Here's the recipe:

1 pkg. semi sweet chocolate chips
1 stick butter, softened
1/2 cup walnuts or pecans {I leave out due to allergies}
1/2 cup oatmeal
1 egg
1/3 cup milk
1 cake mix, white or chocolate

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place walnuts or pecans, oatmeal in a blender or food processor, grind fine. Thoroughly mix nuts/oatmeal mixture with chocolate chips and softened butter. Beat in egg, milk and cake mix. Dough will be stiff. Drop onto cookie sheet by teaspoon full. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until done.

ENJOY!

picture on my desktop this week

a beautiful thing

I went out today and took some pictures of some of the beautiful things in our yard. I can't stop looking at it all. It's just lovely how plants can transform an area and make you want to stay and stare. I remember a friend telling me at how she just kept being pulled back to new landscaping she and her family had put in. It's a very peaceful process, at least for me. Rose

Clematis

Dogwood

Rose

Pin oak

The girls first words after everything was done...
SK - "We have BUSHES!" (very excitedly)
GM - "We can put Christmas lights on them now!"
They love this path to their tire swing.

precious at 6

What's not to love?
The freckles.
The tossled hair.
The look in her eyes.
Precious at 6.

blog break, landscape and piles

I haven't blogged in awhile. Mostly because I've been busy with other projects. I've found myself multi-tasking but as you scroll through you will see that maybe it wasn't such a good idea to take on so much at one time.

Alot of my time has been indoors, protecting SK from this, POLLEN. Ugly isn't it. It is a film on the deck, the car, the house, EVERYTHING. I have a little one who ended up with a swollen eye shut because of it. Not fun, just ask her. I can't wait for it to rain!
Landscaping the backyard. We brought in some gravel, lots of gravel to cover the play area and create a walkway between the patio and under the deck. We love the outcome and can't wait for phase two of the process, PLANTS! We also filled the three holes left from the dead trees we brought down last fall. I am looking forward to not mowing around those anymore.
Okay, before we move on please know this is not how we live. SK's preschool is having a garage sale fundraiser, YAY! I'm cleaning house for that plus general spring cleaning, plus I'm putting up Easter and switching our clothes out from Winter to Spring/Summer. Too much I know, my hubby reminds me of this as he climbs over piles. In my defense, most of the piles are in the unfinished part of our basement.
I will say it has felt very liberating to let go of things. I cleaned out my closet today, took three big trash bags to Goodwill. AP was impressed with the new look of our closet but still complained about the piles. I guess I should finish what I started :-).

pinkalicious party

SK's party invite. After having her sister dress up as the little girl in the book Pinkalicious, it's all we can talk about and seems fitting to have for my four year olds birthday party. I think she is most excited about having her hair sprayed pink more than the day itself ;).
We're all in a pink buzz around here, anxiously awaiting the big day!

new best friend

I love spring.
Everything is blooming, warm temperatures, God's beauty in nature.

With that beauty comes congestion, cough, runny nose, raspy voice, well at least for me that is.
I'm finding with age my allergies are getting worse {Yay for me!}.

However, meet my new best friend.
My hubby introduced me to him.
He visits me twice daily.
He relieves the pressure.
He also grosses me out at times.
But he works hard for me.
Isn't that what friends are for?

145 eggs

  1. AP playing around with the girls and the wheelbarrow.
  2. GM, hunting down those colorful eggs.
  3. SK stopping for a moment from the hunt to get a picture in.
There were so many eggs that they had to switch from their small Easter baskets to the BIG bags :-). It was a great time.
